1. What is the South America Airpass?

It's a product that allows you to visit multiple South American destinations - by way of LAN's extensive South American network - at special rates.

2. What destinations can I visit?

You can choose from the more than 49 South American destinations that make up LAN's extensive network. See a map with cities.

3. How does it work?

South American Airpass works via the purchase of individual one-way coupons for flights within South America. The value of these coupons is determined by two factors:

  • Whether you reach South America with LAN or with another airline*.
  • The distance between the point of departure and the destination.

* Valid for oneworld members airlines, South African Airways, Aeroméxico and Alitalia.

4. How many places can I visit?

You can visit as many places as you wish, obtaining a minimum of three coupons.

5. How much does it cost?

The total price depends on the number of coupons you purchase and the distance between the trip's point of origin and the destination. For example, traveling from Quito to Lima to Buenos Aires to Santiago would require three coupons.

6. Where can I buy a South America Airpass?

It can be purchased in any country in North and Central America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Brazil* directly through a LAN offices, or via a travel agency.

* Purchase in Brazil applies for brazilian residents holding an international LAN Airlines (LA), LAN Express (LU), LAN Peru (LP), LAN Argentina (4M) or LAN Ecuador (XL) ticket showing arrivals to and departures from Brazil.

7. What are its restrictions/limitations?

South American Airpass is valid for passenger NOT residing in South America (excepting Brazil) holding an international ticket showing arrivals to and departures from South America on any aircraft operated by LAN Airlines (LA), LAN Express (LU), LAN Ecuador (XL), LAN Peru (LP), LAN Argentina (4M) and airlines participating on the oneworld alliance more South African Airways, Aeroméxico and Alitalia. The maximum stay is 12 months. Minimum stay is 1 day. Infants under 2 years of age may fly with a 90% discount, if not occupying a seat. Child fare (2 - 11) have 33% discount on the fare. Exchanges are permitted following the payment of a penalty fee. Refunds not permitted. Baggage exemptions for flights within South America correspond to those allowed on international flights. The South American Airpass must be purchased at least 14 days prior to the departure date.
