Unaccompanied minors (UM) are defined as children between the ages of five and 11 traveling without a responsible adult, with LAN assuming responsibility for the minor.
The service can be optional or mandatory depending on the age of the minor.
This service must be requested a minimum of 24 hours prior to the flight’s departure only via our Call Center or at a LAN Sales Office.
You CAN NOT request this service at LAN.com.
IMPORTANT: it is required that the service to have been previously confirmed by LAN for the child to be boarded. Minors who arrive at the airport without the service having been confirmed for them will not be boarded.
Flight changes are subject to the conditions of the airfare purchased.
This service is available in our Tourist and Business classes.
It can only be arranged via Sales Offices and the Call Center. The service is not available via LAN.com.
There is a maximum number of UM that can travel on the same plane:
The adult responsible for the child traveling as an Unaccompanied Minor must fill out the Minor Transport Form, which will be provided at the airport at the check-in counter.
UM are only accepted on itineraries operated by LAN.
UM are only permitted to make connections between LAN-operated flights, and only within the same day and at the same airport.
UM are not permitted on flights that make connections requiring an overnight layover.
UM are not permitted to take connecting flights operated by other airlines, be they prior to or following the LAN flight.
