LAN offers its passengers Special Services to make flying with us as comfortable as possible. Following please find the list of Special Services LAN has to offer.
Handicapped passengers are defined as those who, due to an impairment of the physical, mental or sensory capabilities, be it permanent or temporary, require additional assistance during boarding, flight, or de-boarding.
Handicapped passengers are considered self-sufficient if they are able to communicate with the crew and understand the crew’s instructions, and independently attend to their alimentary, hygienic and/or physiological needs. This category also includes those who inform the crew that they do not require assistance during the flight, for whatever reason (e.g. the use of IUDs, adult diapers, etc.) as well as those who only require the crew’s assistance in getting in and out of the wheelchair and being taken to and from his or her seat to use the lavatory.
Handicapped passengers are not considered self-sufficient if they are unable to communicate with the crew and/or understand the crew’s instructions and/or require assistance to attend to their alimentary, hygienic and/or physiological needs once aboard (excluding passengers who inform the crew that they do not require assistance during the flight, for whatever reason [e.g. the use of IUDs, adult diapers, etc.] as well as those who only require the crew’s assistance in getting in and out of the wheelchair and being taken to and from his or her seat to use the lavatory.)
These passengers require at least one companion to assist them during the flight.
The companion must meet the following requirements:
All requests for groups of handicapped passengers (10 or more) are to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by Operational Security Management, who will be responsible for defining the terms of the group’s admittance.
For flights on which the total number of handicapped passengers equals three (on aircraft with one aisle) or 5 (on aircraft with two aisles), additional requests must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by Operational Security Management, who will be responsible for defining the terms of the group’s admittance.
