LATAM Airlines Group Included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the Second Year in a Row
Santiago, November 14, 2013. - LATAM Airlines Group was included for the second consecutive year in the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for the leadership that has kept the company in its sector in terms of corporate sustainability.
The DJSI is the main indicator for assessing the management of companies leading in sustainable development in economic, social and environmental areas selected based on a comprehensive analysis of long-term criteria.
"We are proud to have been selected for this globally recognized indicator in terms of sustainability, a result that reflects the commitment of the more than 54 thousand employees that make up LAN and TAM," says Bruno Ardito, Director of Institutional Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility of LAN.
The executive added that "being included for the second year in a row in the DJSI Emerging Markets, presents us with a major challenge, which is to continue working to become a leading company in the global sustainability field."
This year a total of 800 companies with the highest market capitalization from 20 countries were invited and 81 were chosen to participate in the latest index with LAN and TAM, LATAM Airlines Group members, forming part of those selected.
The countries considered within the emerging markets are Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey.
