LAN and TAM Announce Opening of Five New VIP Lounges

Santiago, November 19, 2013 - LAN Airlines and its affiliates and TAM Airlines, part of LATAM Airlines Group, announced today that they will open five new VIP lounges between 2013 and 2014 with the goal of providing upgraded premium spaces to preferred passengers. Today, the new lounge at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogota was officially inaugurated.

Covering a total of more than 60,000sq ft, the new and renovated lounges are part of the commitment of both companies to continuously improve their respective frequent flyer program members’ travel experience, giving them a unique, calming and relaxing space before their flights or connections.

With the opening of these five new redesigned spaces, LAN and TAM strengthen their presence and value for passengers traveling to, from and within South America and beyond. Both companies also hope to open more lounges in the region’s airports for their frequent flyers in the future.

The services that the new lounges offer include significant improvements in service standards that LAN and TAM offer their passengers with a children's area, relaxation areas, individual bathrooms, showers, chaise lounges for sleeping, Business Centers and unique beverages and cuisine inspired by all that the region has to offer..

"To carry out this project we decided to work with world renowned architects and designers like the Chilean architect Mathias Klotz, in addition to architect Lillian Allen, and the global vision that Studio Putman gave us, one of best design studios in the world headquartered in Paris," said Fernanda Toro, Director of Travel Experience, LATAM Airlines Group.

COLOMBIA VIP Lounge Inauguration Event

At an event in the new VIP lounge at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, guests were greeted by the chief executives of the company in Colombia, as well as by prominent architect Mathias Klotz, who is responsible for the project, Olivia Putman, designer of the lounges and daughter of Andree Putman, founder of the prestigious French design studio that bears her name; LAN’s Executive Chef, Hugo Pantano, among others, and were offered a tasting and a tour of the new facilities.

The Bogota VIP Lounge is located at Gate 34 in the International Passenger Terminal at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport 

LAN and TAM were inspired by the big global trends in interior design and architecture, incorporating distinct elements of each of the countries where they operate. These spaces want to project to the world the best of the South American region, highlighting its cultural aspects, progress and successes and great future projection. All this is found in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that distinguishes South America.

This vision is reflected in the lounges through their spaces, materials, textures, colors, shapes, technology, distinctive elements of each country, and of course through a warm and friendly service team and outstanding food and wine.

Passengers who will have access to the LAN and TAM VIP lounges

The new lounges and amenities can be enjoyed by passengers traveling onboard LAN and TAM First Class, Premium Business, Business and Premium Economy, as well as senior members of the LANPASS frequent flyer program (Comodoro, Premium Silver) and TAM Fidelidade (Black, Vermelho Plus, Vermelho) and oneworld respective categories (Emerald, Sapphire).

In addition to these lounges, LAN frequent flyers have access to over 550 VIP lounges worldwide, belonging to oneworld alliance airlines.
