The weather in Santiago, Chile is mild to hot and classified as Continental Mediterranean. Winters are overcast with temperatures that range from 6º-12ºC (43º-54ºF) although lows occasionally reach below freezing. During cold snaps, homes in the eastern sector of the capital have been known to find a blanket of frost covering roofs, gardens and vehicles.

Summers are hot and dry, although humidity has increased slightly in recent years as new weather phenomena bring weather changes from the Pacific Ocean. From December to February, temperatures range from 12º-27ºC (54º-81ºF) and highs often reach above 30ºC (86ºF).
