Flights to Punta Arenas
The President Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport, 20 kilometers. north of Punta Arenas, is a safe haven for passengers against the region's strong winds. It is undoubtedly the most important airport in the Magellanic region and its airstrip is also used by the Chilean Air Force for non-commercial flights.
The airport was inaugurated in 1950 and is used for various international flights to Ushuaia, Rio Grande, Rio Gallegos, El Calafate and Puerto Stanley, as well as serving as a connection for visitors who travel from other parts of Chile.
