Portillo Ski Resort

Meals are more than just chow-time in Portillo.  Whether in the classic main dining room, the cozy bar, or the spectacular mountainside restaurant Tio Bob’s, mealtime in Portillo is designed to be friendly, fun and different.

The main dining room

Dining / Après Ski

The main dining room

This is where guests will eat most of their meals during the week.  The main dining room is often praised for its old-fashioned leather paneled walls, mountain views and cruise ship style atmosphere, but what guests usually comment on most is the food.  Our Chef, Rafael Figueroa, is a master of using locally grown products to prepare hearty meals that are beautifully presented but never over-the-top. There are two seatings for dinner each night, and our Maitre D’ Juan will help you and your group get situated on the first night.  Families with young children always have preference for the early seating.  Your table on the first day will be yours for the week, and the waiters in your section will get to know you well and will be eagerly awaiting your arrival each evening.
The dining room is a comfortable, relaxing place and offers the perfect venue to enjoy delicious food and wine while discussing the day spent skiing and participating in activities with family and friends.

Tio Bob´s Restaurant

Tio Bob´s Restaurant

This slopeside restaurant offers stunning views of Lake Inca and the Andes that surround it. It is located at the top of the Plateau Lift, before accessing Condor. For lunch Tio Bob's offers barbecued meats and fish and a delicious variety of salads.  Guests have been known to ‘lunch for hours’ after discovering the wine list and comfort of the restaurant.  We sometimes host special dinners at Tio Bob’s on Friday nights. Tio Bob's can also be rented to host a private evening party, allowing guests to ride the chairlift and view the stars over the Andean peaks.  It makes for a truly unforgettable evening.
Hours: Tio Bob’s is open from 12:00-3:00 pm, weather permitting.

Note: On Thursdays we invite guests who either do not wish to/or cannot ski down the Plateau run, to ride the chairlift to Tio Bob's without skis (1:00-3:00 pm, weather permitting).

Ski Box

Ski Box

The Ski Box, located at the base of Las Lomas, is a recent addition to Portillo.  Ski Box is a snack-bar of sorts, offering sandwiches, empanadas, snacks, soft drinks, beer and wine.  The Ski Box patio is perfect for hosting a wine-tasting or après ski event, with birthday events proving particularly popular. Portillo staff are happy to help you arrange your ideal event.
Hours
: The Ski Box is open from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

The Auto-Servicio

The Auto-Servicio

The Auto-Servicio is our self-service cafeteria where Inca guests dine as well as our day skiing guests.  The Auto-Servicio is open four times daily; for breakfast, lunch, once (tea-time), and dinner. It is impossible to go hungry in the ‘autoserv,’ as lunch and dinner are four-courses. All guests are invited.

Hours:
Breakfast: 7:00 -10:00 am
Lunch: 12:30 - 3:00 pm
Once: 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Dinner: 8:30pm – 10:00 pm

The Portillo Bar

The Portillo Bar

BAR - located on the second floor, the bar comes alive after dinner, with live music every day. It features a fireplace and a long bar that offers peanuts and chips to go with your beer or the legendary pisco sour!. Legend has it that Hermann Maier once jumped on top of the bar in a single bound. Sometimes, well lubricated guests try to duplicate the feat.

DISCO - located on the first underground level. Along with the snow, you might say it’s the best thing about Portillo. That’s because everyone’s family in this small club, which has two main areas, a bar and an a dance floor. The music is varied and there’s no shortage of ski videos.

LA POSADA DE PORTILLO - this is what a journalist would dub “the best-kept secret in the Chilean mountain range.” Clichés aside, it just might be true. ‘La Posada’ is located across the Camino Internacional from Hotel Portillo. What is it? A soda shop, an Andean bar, a trucker’s favorite and a Lonely Planet style backpacker’s delight.
