In LAN we pay special attention to environmental protection in all our processes, managing and minimizing the impact of our operations and promoting responsible procedures within our company and among our stakeholders.

LEAN Project

The LEAN project has been implemented in the company with excellent results. Its purpose is to meet its main objective of achieving excellence in the company’s operating processes and service (in all areas), increasing the value of each one of the actions and procedures performed and eliminating those that are not required.

Since its implementation in 2009, the LEAN program has managed to cut aircraft-on-ground time, reducing errors in different processes, increasing productivity and achieving significant environmental benefits.

In 2010, LAN set itself the ambitious target of reducing 100,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year through the operation of “sustainable flights,” involving more efficient procedures in its on-land processes, such as: limited use of the Auxiliary Power Unit, reduction of on-board weight or engine washing, as well as its in-flight processes, such as: more direct flights, continuous descents, fuel management using cutting edge technology, among other measures.
