LAN Peru and JAL Announce the Implementation of a Codeshare Agreement
LAN Peru S.A. (LAN Peru) and Japan Airlines (JAL) respectively an affiliate airline and member of the oneworld Alliance®, executed agreements to codeshare flights.
Once approved by the applicable government authorities, passengers will have access to expanded routes between Peru, United States, and Japan. Specifically, LAN Peru will offer its passengers further connectivity between Lima, Peru and Tokyo, Japan. It is estimated that LAN Peru will begin the sale of codeshare flights with JAL by the end of April, 2013.
“This codeshare agreement makes it possible to connect our passengers from Lima to Tokyo through our gateways in the U.S (Los Angeles and New York), thus expanding and strengthening our network of destinations as LAN Peru as well as LATAM Airlines Group, by offering additional daily flights to Tokyo from Lima, which is our hub in Peru”, said Nicolas Goldstein, LAN Peru’s General Manager. This arrangement comes approximately a year after LAN Airlines and JAL implemented their codeshare operations.
As oneworld partners, JAL and LAN already offer reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, allowing members of LANPASS program and the JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members to earn and redeem kilometers/miles across both airlines. Now, with the new codeshare arrangement, customers can expect even greater convenience when traveling between South America and Peru on both airlines.
