Destination guide: Galapagos Islands

Weather on the Galapagos Islands

The sub-tropical weather of the Galapagos Islands is warm and temperatures range from 15°-32°C (59°-90°F) depending on the time of year. Highs reach 32°C (90°F) during the hottest months of summer (December to May), and rain is frequent. Water conditions vary which is why activities like snorkeling are not recommended during this time of year.

Temperatures are affected by the Humboldt Current from June to December, dropping to average lows of 15°C (59°F) and highs of 27°C (81°F). This period is known as the "dry season" although it is more refreshing and perfect for diving fans. Rainstorms are also less common and are shorter which means plenty of blue sky for visitors.
