Security Enhancement: Carry-on Baggage Prohibited Items
In keeping with the restrictions relating to liquids as carry-on baggage items, the Civil Aeronautics Authority of Uruguay has informed all airlines operating in Uruguay of new security measures enforced in this regard. Accordingly, all passengers flying with LAN and having on-line or off-line connections to/from Uruguay will be subject to the following restrictions as of May 2, 2007:
- Passengers will be permitted to bring liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-on baggage provided that the items are packaged in containers with a capacity of 100 ml or less each , and that containers fit comfortably in one clear, closed and resealable plastic bag (Ziploc-type) with a capacity of no more than 1 liter . Only one bag per passenger will be permitted.
- In order to minimize potential delays at the screening point, passengers must remove from their carry-on bag, the closed, resealable transparent plastic bags containing all liquids, gels, and aerosols and present them for security screening separately from the rest of the baggage.
- The following items will be permitted in reasonable amounts according to the length of passenger itinerary:
-
Baby formula/ milk (including breast milk), baby food , milk and juice in small containers if a child aged two years and under is traveling. These items must be kept in the responsible adult's carry-on baggage.
-
Medicines (liquids, gel and/or aerosol).
-
Passengers will be subject to random physical inspections.
Please note that these restrictions may be applicable to Duty Free items if purchased at connection points along the route.
