Iberia worker's Strike: Information regarding disruptions to LAN Airlines flights

Madrid, March 1, 2013

As a result of the strike called by Iberia’s unions for March 4,5,6,7 and 8, LAN Airlines informs that it will offer the following alternatives for passengers with LAN tickets issued up to February 25, 2013 and whose itinerary includes flights operated by Iberia that have been canceled or rescheduled:

1. Date/flight changes without paying a fine

 a) Fly within the next 30 days, subject to space being available in the cabin of the original flight, on LAN flights and connections with Iberia (including LAN codeshare flights operated by Iberia).  Changes that include connections with other airlines are subject to class availability on the flight of the fare paid. You can find out more about your class in the ‘Purchase Information’ document provided when you purchased your ticket(s). These changes can be made irrespective of the fare’s other restrictions.

b) Fly 30 days after the original flight and on or before June 8:

This option can be chosen if the required flight has space available according to the fare paid for and the ticket’s regulations are complied with. These changes can be made at no extra charge but may eventually be subject to differences in price depending on the restrictions of the fare paid for. 

As a special exception, efforts are being made to place passengers on TAM flights via Sao Paulo (GRU) or Rio de Janeiro (GIG) when there is space available in the same cabin as the original flight and when their final destination is an Iberia flight to the cities of Frankfurt, Paris, London or Milan.

c) Fly on subsequent dates:

These changes are subject to all the regulations described in the ‘Purchase Information’ document provided when you purchased your ticket(s).

2. Route changes without paying a fine:

Passengers who choose this option must pay any applicable difference in price.

3. Refunds:

A refund of the amount paid can be requested. Passengers who want to fly with LAN on the scheduled dates of their ticket and who choose not to fly the legs operated by other companies will be able to fly with LAN according to their itinerary and, once the journey has been completed, can request the refund of the legs operated by other companies and that have not been flown. 

For example, if you purchased a flight from Santiago to Barcelona, you may ask for a refund for the Madrid-Barcelona leg (with Iberia) once the journey has been completed, as long as you have flown with LAN from Santiago to Madrid.
