LAN Airlines Recognized as “Leading Airline in South America” for Second Consecutive Year by World Travel Awards

Lima - July 24, 2013 For the second consecutive year, the World Travel Awards (WTA) awarded LAN Airlines, part of LATAM Airlines Group, in the “Leading Airline in South America” category. The WTA, a prestigious award often called the “Oscars of the travel industry”, aims to award excellence across the best travel organizations in the world through a global industrial vote by travel professionals and consumers.

The award recognizes achievement based on LAN’s leadership and commitment, the implementation of a clear corporate vision, consistency in their operation, and attentive customer service.  Good food service, more comfortable cabins; best Business Class service, technology and entertainment on board; VIP lounges and the “on-time arrivals/departures”, are among the categories considered by the award.

The World Travel Awards South & Central America Gala Ceremony 2013 was held at the Huacca Pucllana Temple in Lima, Peru where many industry representatives attended. Several LAN executives attended the ceremony and LAN Peru President of the Board of Directors, Emilio Rodríguez Larraín, received the award on behalf of the Company.

This is the fourth time that the Company has received this important recognition. In 2012 and 2007, LAN received the award in the same category as “Leading Airline in South America,” and in 2005 as “Leading Airline in South America in Business Class.”
