Security Enhancement: Carry-on Baggage Prohibited Items

In keeping with the restrictions imposed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-on baggage, Peru has enforced new security measures applicable to domestic and international flights, which will enter into effect on May 1, 2007.

  • All liquids must be packed in containers with a capacity of 100 ml (or its equivalent in other volume units). Containers with a capacity greater than 100 ml will not be permitted, no matter the container is not full.
  • Containers must be packed in one clear, closed and resealable plastic bag with a capacity of no more than 1 liter. Containers must fit comfortably in the sealed plastic bag. One bag per passenger will be permitted.
  • The closed, resealable transparent plastic bags containing all liquids, gels, and aerosols must be presented separately from the rest of the carry-on baggage (such as clothes, electronic devices, etc.) for visual security screening.
  • The following items will be permitted in reasonable amounts according to the length of passenger itinerary:
    - Baby formula/ milk (including breast milk), baby food, milk and juice in small containers if a child aged two years and under is traveling. These items must be kept in the responsible adult's carry-on baggage.
    - Special meals for passengers with prescribed diets.
    - Medicines (liquids, gel and/or aerosol).

Liquids will be permitted if purchased at Duty Free shops or aboard aircrafts and provided that they are packed in special, sealed tamper-evident plastic bags. Passengers will be required to present the receipt showing that items were purchased on the same date of the trip.
