LA MONEDA PALACE
This is Santiago's Presidential Palace, a tour of which visitors can enjoy for free (a reservation made 15 days in advance is required).
PLAZA DE ARMAS
This is Santiago's main plaza as well as the site of the city's national cathedral.
PARQUE METROPOLITANO
This large park in Santiago affords beautiful views of the city and, on clear days, the Andes. The park also features a botanical garden, zoo and two swimming pools. The summit of this Santiago park can be reached via cable car, funicular railway or simply by hiking.
LA CHASCONA
One of the three homes of the renowned poet Pablo Neruda, this site (literally meaning 'tangle-haired woman', after his third wife) is situated in the lively Santiago neighborhood of Bellavista. It houses a number of artifacts collected by Neruda himself, as well as art created by some of his famed friends. Visitors can join a tour in either English or Spanish.
PARQUE FORESTAL
This park in Santiago runs parallel to the Mapocho River and is also home to the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Modern Art Museum.
