LAN Airlines - Chile Earthquake Information for Passengers

LAN Airlines is pleased to inform passengers that in spite of the powerful earthquake that struck southern Chile just days ago, that our flight operations to all of our destinations are back to normal.

Even though we are still operating some temporary LAN facilities at the Santiago airport, the systems that we have in place are working quickly and efficiently. We hope to be able to return to operating 100% of our flights out of the Santiago airport terminal shortly.

Due to the heavy volume of rescheduled flights over the past few days, we are requiring that all flights scheduled to depart or arrive in Chile through March 28th be reconfirmed on LAN.com.

We invite all passengers whose flight itineraries have been affected and have not yet been rescheduled to contact our Call Center at 0800 977 6100 or your travel agent.

International and domestic flights to/from Santiago, Chile

If you have a reservation for travel within the next 48 hours, please review the Flight Status. If your flight is shown, you must reconfirm your reservation by clicking on Flight Confirmation or Check-in online and your reservation will be confirmed. It is not necessary to contact LAN’s Call Center.

If you have a reservation for travel beyond the next 48 hours, please consult the LAN Timetable. If your flight is listed, please reconfirm your reservation by clicking on Flight Confirmation. It is not necessary to contact Call Center.

If your flight has been cancelled or is not shown on either Flight Status or the LAN Timetable, please contact Call Center at 0800 977 6100.

Additional Information

If you have an existing reservation on an international flight with a stopover or connection in Santiago, Chile and one of your flights is not shown on either Flight Status or the LAN Timetable, please contact Call Center so that we can reroute your itinerary to best meet your needs.

Passengers with confirmed flights may Check-in online between 48 and 2 hours before the scheduled departure time.

The rest of LAN’s operations (domestic flights in Peru, Argentina, Ecuador and international flights that do not depart or arrive in Santiago de Chile) are scheduled to operate normally.


Passengers Information

Affected passengers (with cancelled flights between February 27th and March 6th, inclusive) that already initiated their trip:

- Change will be allowed for their returning flight, to fly up to November 30, with no penalties or fare differences subject to availability on the cabin (Regardless de original restriction on the ticket)
- For passengers returning after November 30, fare differences will apply, with no penalty, subject to availability of the fare class within the fare validity, with no charge and regardless of the fare regulation.

Affected passengers (with cancelled flights between February 27th and March 6th, inclusive) that have not initiated their trip:

- Change will be allowed for their flight, to fly up to November 30, with no penalties or fare differences subject to availability on the cabin (Regardless de original restriction on the ticket).
- For passengers flying after November 30, fare differences will apply, with no penalty, subject to availability of the fare class within the fare validity, with no charge and regardless of the fare regulation.
- In Domestic Flights within Chile, it will be allowed to fly the returning flight, with the original booking, even when the departing flight has not being flown.

Passengers on not affected flights:

Passengers with initiated trips, with origin or destinations in Chile, can anticipate their return to fly up to March 30, subject to cabin availability, with no penalty or fare difference.
