Flights status due to Swine flu

In regards to the confirmation of a case of swine flu (AH1N1 flu) informed by the Health Department of Peru yesterday, which corresponds to a female passenger traveling in flight LAN 531 who later developed symptoms after her arrival to Lima on Saturday May 9th at 20.12, the company wishes to communicate the following:

The Chilean sanitary authority has set in motion the appropriate procedure previously created for cases such as this one and is getting in touch with all the passengers that were on that flight so that all the necessary precautions are taken.

LAN operates with the maximum standards of safety for its passengers and is adopting all the measures recommended by international health organizations due to the outbreak of Swine flu.

According to the recent arrangements of the governmental authorities of Argentina, Ecuador and Peru, some itineraries have been changed between these countries and Mexico.

Additionally, LAN is providing assistance to passengers affected by these changes that require to modify the date of their trip, without penalty, until next May 31 of 2009.

LAN informs that all other destinations are operating normally. LAN will continue evaluating how the situation in different countries evolves and working in coordination with international health and governmental authorities to adopt all the necessary measures to guarantee the well-being of its passengers.
