Santiago, December 13, 2007. LAN Airlines has important news for its United States passengers. The members of the LAN Service Alliance -LAN Airlines, LAN Peru, LAN Ecuador, and LAN Argentina- are operating out of Miami’s International Airport’s new Terminal, allowing the Alliance to provide better, more expeditious and efficient service to its passengers.
The modern South Terminal, Concourse J provides cutting-edge technology, and its own US Customs and Border protection checkpoint, which allows for a more prompt and efficient screening process for arriving and departing passengers. Furthermore, baggage can be turned in directly at the counter thanks to the South Terminal’s new baggage screening system. This terminal offers 150 check-in stations for passengers, two new security checkpoints, as well as 19 boarding gates for domestic and international flights.
Moreover, LAN Airlines passengers will soon be able to enjoy an ample variety of stores, bookshops and restaurants while they wait for their flight. In addition, interesting work from local artists will be exhibited on the premises.
The LAN Service Alliance carriers operate daily flights between Miami and Buenos Aires, Lima, Quito, and Guayaquil, as well as weekly flights to other destinations, such as Caracas, Bogota and Punta Cana.
Passengers traveling to Los Angeles may now enjoy the new VIP lounge that the oneworld alliance carriers opened for their premium clients. The lounge is located in Tom Bradley terminal, the international airport of this city, and offers two separate rooms for its First Class and Business Class passengers traveling on British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, LAN and Japan Airlines, as well as for frequent fliers of oneworld member airlines’ Emerald and Sapphire categories. This is the first VIP lounge in the world developed as a joint alliance project. British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Qantas collaborated with the design and development of these installations.
The lounge offers plasma screens in the reception area and a bar showcasing state-of-the-art design. The facilities include 9 showers, Internet-connected work stations with PCs and wi-fi. There are buffet areas and snacks, newspapers and magazines. This space measuring 1,360 square meters is located in the 5th floor of Tom Bradley terminal, and holds up to 90 First Class and 210 Executive class passengers.
LAN Airlines offers five nonstop weekly flights between Santiago and Los Angeles, plus two direct flights operating with an intermediate stop in Lima. LAN Peru also operates daily flights between Lima and Los Angeles. These schedules have excellent connectivity with flights to Asia, as well as with the west coast of the U.S.A. and Canada.
